The Latin version is Antonius, a clan name (nomen) belonging to the House of Antonia, an important family in the Roman Republic. Marcus Antonius (the most famous member of the family, you've probably heard of him) says that the word comes from Anton, the son of the hero Herakles/Hercules. In English, we say Mark Anthony, in Italian, Marco Antonio.
