Goddess of discord Eris was not invited to the wedding of King Peleus and Thetis. Eris, seeking discord in revenge, threw a golden apple marked 'For the fairest' into the guests, and Hera, Athena and Aphrodite demanded it, asking Zeus to judge. Cunning Zeus got out of this lose-lose situation by referring them to Pairs, prince of Troy as a superior judge. The trio confronted Paris (aka Alexander) offering bribes. Paris unwisely agreed to judge, and awarded the apple to Aphrodite. Her payback was to give the most beautiful human to Paris who, visiting Sparta, persuaded Queen Helen to go with him back to Troy, and to make it much worse, bring a mass of King Menelaos' property with her. Very wroth about the loss of Helen, and even more about the property, Menelaos persuaded his brother King Agamamnon of Argos to organise a great raid on Asia Minor and as well as the bait of helping themselves to all the loot of the area, to help him get Helen (and his property) back from Troy.

"Troy Story" is a work of fiction, based on the ancient Greek mythological tale of the Trojan War. It is not a true story but rather a retelling of a legendary event.
Paris who is Priam's son, steals Helen from the Achaian side and that starts the war. Though it is debatable whether Helen leaves with free will or not, the action of taking her is a significant breach in the Greek Value of hospitality which gives the Achaians ample reason to attack.
