Ziggurats are terraced pyramids with successively receding sides, while the Egyptian pyramids (the later ones anyway) have smooth sides going up to a paint. Also Ziggurats are temples while the pyramids are burial grounds.
Egyptian pyramids are vaguely similar to Aztec ziggurats; pyramids have smooth sides, while ziggurats often have stepped sides.
The first person credited with building the pyramids in Egypt is Pharaoh Djoser, who commissioned the Step Pyramid at Saqqara around 2670 BCE during the Third Dynasty. This structure, designed by his architect Imhotep, marked a significant advancement in monumental architecture. While later pharaohs, such as Khufu, built the more famous pyramids at Giza, Djoser's pyramid represents the earliest large-scale stone construction in Egypt.
The exact number of pyramids that have been destroyed is difficult to determine, but it is estimated that many of the original pyramids in Egypt have suffered significant damage or destruction over the centuries due to natural erosion, looting, and human activity. Of the approximately 138 known pyramids in Egypt, several have been severely degraded or reduced to ruins. Notably, the Pyramids of Giza remain largely intact, while others, like the Pyramid of Djoser, have experienced considerable wear and damage.
They used scaffolding to keep it up while being built and when it was finished the scaffolding was taken down and the inside was decorated.
Most must have died from accidents crushed by stones or from falls; working in the hot sun wearing little or nothing must have led to deaths from heatstroke and dehydration.
