I'm gonna have to against what the "expert" answered on this one, Hades had an assistant his name was Charos the angel of dead, his job was to transfer the souls of the dead in a boat over the river Acheron from the world of the living to the world of the dead.
Acheron, ferried by Kharon.
You need to cross the River Styx (pronounced 'sticks')

the river styx divides the living and the dead so it impacts hades because people who die cannot leave th underworld which helps hades from making them escape
the cerburus is the underworld but first you have to go to hades temple and cross the river of souls
The Cerebrus is in the underworld with Hades. You have to get pomegranates from the tree by the aqueducts, then give them to Hades as an offering. Then you have to take the river ride to get to the Cerebrus. Ride at the front of the boat, it's easier. You go to the Hades place, past the Temple of Muses, and you go down the hole. You have to cross the River Styx, then you are at Cerebrus!
The River Styx is in the underworld realm of Hades. The boatman Charon will take you down the river and you must avoid the three hazards (rocks, flaming skulls, and river monsters) to reach the Throne Room of Hades where the dog Cerberus stands guard.
