A democratic government works by having to or more parties, each party must get voted the most amounts of seats by the people. At the moment labour is in power so they have won the most seats in parliament house.

There is three parts to law making part one the house of representative makes laws this is where the PM is. the room they sit in is green. (see the bottom for why) once they have agreed on a new law it then goes to the red room. part two (also see bottom for why) in the red room sits the senate they then review the law if it doesn't pass them then it goes back to the house of Reps for them to make better if it does pass them then part three is it gets signed by the governor who represents the queen and is now a law of Australia.

Our government system is based on the Westminster system in England.

the green room represents working class people and the red represents royals and lords.

Democracy in Australia is mainly the same as that in Ancient Greece. The citizens choose who their leaders will be, but although leaders are not chosen randomly, leaders who are of a political reputation are chosen by a vote. Every new law is voted on. Ancient Greece Democracy was used to keep country in order. Australia has followed in on this process.

Overall, Australia's democratic government is very simliar to the of Ancient Greece

Because it derived from a country Britain, that as a result of the magnacarta and then the power the people gained as the result of the industrial revolution had introduced and developed a democratic system of Government. When Australia became a federation it enshrined the British system in their own constitution because they liked their way of life and felt their system of government had a lot to do with it.
