Early in his life, Ramses II went on numerous campaigns, one of which has been detailed in the poem of Pentaur. In that poem, Ramses II is exalted as a great warrior and leader. He was 96 years old when he died. "Ramses the Great". He is known as one of Egypt's greatest warriors, but also as a peace-maker and for the monuments he left behind all over Egypt. He was the first king in history to sign a peace treaty with his enemies, the Hittites, ending long years of wars and hostility.King Ramses reigned for 67 years (1292-1225 B.C.). Under him Egypt acquired unprecedented splendor. His empire extended from Syria to near the Fourth Cataract of the Nile.

Was Moses there during the reign of King Ramses -II?

Moses was there during the reign of Ramses. The biggest proof is the Bible. Moses led the people of Egypt out of the bondage from Ramses2. Ramses II reigned from 1304-1236 BC. According to 1 Kings 6:1 Solomon dedicated the temple 480 years after the Exodus began. Since the date of Solomon's Temple has been fixed as 961 BC we then have a date of 1441 BC for the Exodus. On this basis Ramses II was not the pharaoh when Moses was around. After searching through Wikipedia I found that Moses was apparently born around 1391BC and lived to be 120 so that would mean he died in 1271BC. Ramses II reigned from 1279-1213 after being born around 1303BC. Considering Moses was supposed to be a younger brother of Ramses II it is clearly evident that this wasn't the case. It does however indicate that Moses was around the same time as Ramses II reign, just a lot older then him. As to which pharoah died when the sea joined back together, going by reigns it could have been anyone from Amenhotep III to Seti I but there is no evidence to support this.

Why is Ramses II so important?

Ramses II is important for many reasons.1. He was very active in building monuments in Egypt and Nubia2. He led several campaigns into Syria, Libya and Nubia and negotiated a treaty with the Hittites3. He is one of only a handful of Egyptian kinds to have held a Sed fesitival. This means that in the 30th year of his reign, he was ritually transformed into a God.4. He has been identified as being the Pharaoh of whom Moses demanded to let his people go (this may or may not be a correct identification)5. He also inspired Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem "Ozymandias" and the character Ozymandias from the popular Watchmen graphic novel and movie takes his inspiration from Ramses II.Ramses II had a 66 year reign and in the 30th year, he had already eclipsedmost pharaohs; he had brought peace, maintained Egyptian borders, built great and numerous monuments across his empire and his country was more prosperous and powerful than it had been in almost 100 years.

Was Ramses II the pharaoh of the Exodus?

A:Although the Bible confidently dates the Israelite Exodus from Egypt at around 1440 BCE, there are certainly good reasons for believing that Ramses II was the pharaoh of the Exodus, since it was he who built the city of pi-Ramses, mentioned in the story of the Exodus. The Amarna letters prove conclusively that the Canaanite rulers were still in full control of the land just a few decades before his reign began. Furthermore, archaeologists say that Hebrew settlements gradually began to appear in the hitherto sparsely populated Canaanite hinterland during the reign of Ramses II. However, it could not have been Ramses II who pursued the Hebrews out of Egypt, as he died peacefully as an old man and was buried in the Valley of the Kings, whereas Exodus 14:28 says that the pharaoh of the Exodus drowned in pursuit of the fleeing Israelites. For that matter, it could not have been any other pharaoh of the Late Bronze Age, since they have all been accounted for, and none died by drowning. There are just too many discrepancies between the Exodus story and what we now know of history, so that nearly all scholars now believe there never was an Exodus from Egypt as described in the Bible. Pharaoh Ramses II died peacefully, unaware that the Israelites were beginning to develop settlements in the northern reaches of the Egyptian empire.

Was Ramses II pharaoh at the time of Moses?

The Bible does not actually mention Ramses as the ruler of Egypt during the time of Moses. In fact, if Moses lived for 120 years, he would have outlasted several pharoahs. Ramses II (or Rameses II) lived from approximately 1290 to 1224 BCE, which would have coincided with the time that new settlers began to arrive in the Canaanite hinterland. Rameses II was considered to be one of the greatest Pharaohs who ever lived. He inherited an impressive empire, and his power stretched from southward of Sudan, north to Turkey, west to Lybia, and east to Iraq. Ramses II took upon himself what can only be described as an extraordinary building activity in his 67-year reign. The greatness of Ramses II is believed to have been due, in no small part, to the training and example of his father.

Who is Pharaoh's mother?

Ah, what a lovely question! Pharaoh's mother is Queen Tuya, a wise and caring woman who played a significant role in shaping his life and reign. Just like how a gentle brushstroke can bring a painting to life, Queen Tuya's love and guidance helped Pharaoh become the great leader he was meant to be.
