okay, so many animals come from pounds/ humane societies. there are some who are required to give up the animals by law, and others who just don't care. there are some pounds who care and refuse to give their animals up.
the saddest part is, the animals they take are the most adoptable ones. the smaller, well trained, well socialized ones. this is because they are the ones who will give the least resistance when being handled. thanks for your concern

People test animals in labs.
Because usually they raise these animals in a lab to use them to test their products which could be harmful to the health of the animal. And most times after a certain period of time the labs usually kill the animals.

Most labs breed their own lines so that they can keep a consistent gene pool for their studies. In doing this, there is no extraneous variable with a different line of animal. If they do not breed their own, then specialized breeding facilities keep the labs stocked. Labs do not, most of the time, buy their animals from regular pet stores and such because they are more prone to disease and they are of various gene pools.
