Leonbergers can reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour (approximately 48 kilometers per hour) in short bursts. However, they are not built for sustained high-speed running like some smaller breeds; instead, they are known for their strength and endurance. Typically, they enjoy moderate exercise rather than long-distance running.
Leonbergers are a very large breed of dog. They are very beautiful looking as I myself have one. Leonbergers are rather placid and really intelligent, although they only expected to live to about 7 years, as they are a large breed of dog. They can sometimes be quite black, but sometimes blonde. Leonbergers have webbed feet because they are used in water rescue. My leonberger is only a puppy but has been swimming since he was about 3 months old, and loves it. You would really be missing out on a lot if you didn't have one.
The first Leonberger kennel in North Carolina is di Sforzando and is the home of many great, high quality, Leonbergers. Their website has pictures and lots of information available at www.kenneldisforzando.com
