It depends on how closely related the two species are, every specie has a different amount of chromosomes in their cells except the sex cells! e.g. Humans have 46 chromosomes in each cell. If you tried to cross a cat with a dog it would not work as they both have a number of chromosomes that are not similar enough. However if you cross a horse with a pony then this will work as they have a similar number of chromosome's, the baby is called a mule. However cross breeding is very hard and the baby will be infertile ( they cannot breed) this means that is you have a dog that is half poodle half Labrador then do not bother getting him or her spayed/neutered as they cant have baby's already! When a group of organisms can interbreed they are considered a species. Humans can interbreed and produce other humans because they are the same species.
No, many other animals can interbreed.
Members of a group that can interbreed and produce fertile offspring are in the same? it is known as a species
hybrids are produced when two different species interbreed
Different species of birds do not usually interbreed. When they do the resultant hybrid birds are probably infertile. [It only happpens with closely related birds, occasionally seen with ducks.]
Members of a group that have the ability to interbreed and produce fertile offspring are called "species". This is the zoolocigal definition and name for the group.
The species level determines animals which can interbreed.
Organisms that can interbreed are found at the species level.
Species (novanet)
it is known as a species.
To be considered a species, an organism must be able to interbreed and produce viable offspring with other members of the same species. Additionally, they must be reproductively isolated from other species, meaning they do not interbreed with organisms from different species.
The taxon that includes organisms that are most closely related is a species. Organisms within the same species share a high degree of genetic similarity and can interbreed to produce fertile offspring.
