An axolotl is a unique aquatic salamander known for its ability to regenerate limbs and other body parts. Native to lakes in Mexico, particularly Lake Xochimilco, they have a distinctive appearance with feathery gills and a broad head. Unlike most amphibians, axolotls remain in their larval form throughout their life, a condition known as neoteny. They are often kept as pets and are also studied for their regenerative capabilities in scientific research.
