Logically a Buddhist who believes in the teachings of Buddhism would not enter into jobs causing pain or suffering to humans or animals, which promote the use of intoxicants, licenscious sexual behavior, or lead to self-indulgence, anger, lust, and other negative impacts Ideally a job would allow the betterment of humanity and self improvement.

These criteria would exclude participation in jobs like butcher, drug dealer, porn star, thief, arms dealer, bartender. he criteria would encourage work like shop keeper, engineer, doctors/nurse, craftsman, social worker, fireman, police, librarian, astronaut, welder etc. where the impact on humanity (in general) is positive.
