It is a slang term for the California Western railroad, which may or may not be still in business. They ran rail-adapted buses that were referred to as Skunks and Super Skunks. a Cartoon of a skunk in an RR costume was used as a trademark and this evolved into Skunk Route- Skunk line would be the same thing. An odd question but being a railroad buff I don"t mind answering it. the early Skunk rail-buses used Pierce-Arrow engines.
