Chimpanzees are native only to the continent of Africa - although they are found in zoos and as exotic pets on all continents except Antarctica. Come to thing of it, considering their use in research we can't even rule out Antarctica.
Antarctica
North and South America.
The African continent.
A chimpanzee's habitat condition is mostly warm. That because most of them live near the equator.

Chimpanzees inhabit several regions of Africa. Three of the subspecies, Pan troglodytes vellerosus (the Nigeria-Cameroon Chimpanzee), Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii (the Eastern Chimpanzee), and Pan troglodytes troglodytes (the Central Chimpanzee) live in central Africa. A fourth subspecies, Pan troglodytes verus (the Western Chimpanzee), inhabits western Africa. They live mainly in jungles, feeding on plants and insects.
The Chimpanzee (and indeed all the great apes including man) are or were indigenous to only one continent, Africa.
Assuming you do not live in a chimpanzee habitat, do not go to the zoo and consistently watch news reports to ensure no chimpanzees have escaped into your local area.
The "common chimpanzee" is found exclusively in the heavily forested regions of Central and West Africa. The "pygmy chimpanzee", aka bonobo, is only found in the Central Africa region bounded roughly on the South by the Kasai River and on the West, North, and East by the Congo River.
