Animal experiments are designed to discover the effect of procedures and drugs on living things. Although animals and humans have different physiologies, many side effects and problems can be discovered. Animal testing provides data on medical treatments that are later used on other animals or on humans. The prevailing sentiment in the Western world is similar to that long espoused in some Eastern religions : that animals deserve to be respected as living beings. This oftens conflicts with their use in research, and has led to numerous changes and restrictions.
------------
Animal experimentation is a scandal that has been hidden from the American public. We have been lead to believe that the animals used in experiments are well treated and that the procedures performed on these animals are thoroughly regulated and governed by Federal Laws. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Over 90% of the animals used in experimentation are purposely excluded from protection under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA -- the only federal law that governs animal experimentation). Rats, mice, birds, and many other species have been expressly eliminated from all safeguards. Violations of the Animal Welfare Act by labs have increased by over 90% in the last five years.
The AWA places no real restrictions on what can be done to an animal during an experiment. Animals are routinely subjected to addictive drugs, electric shock, food & water deprivation, isolation, severe confinement, caustic chemicals, burning, blinding, chemical and biological weapons, radiation, etc. The "scientist" in question only has to say that a specific procedure is "necessary" for the experiment, and it is allowed. The goal is not to protect the animal; the goal is to insure that the experiment proceeds -- at any cost.

Animals should not have to die when being tested.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals keeps a list of companies that test on animals on its web site. Currently, there are over 250 companies on the list of those who test on animals.
because animals have feelings as much as humans so why test it on animals when we can test it on humans.
100%
i think humans are superior then animals because if we didn't have animals to test on then we would have to test on our selves and more human would die from the chemical test and animals need humans to live so they can live.
There are plenty of choices out there when it comes to finding a brand of hair spray that does not test on animals. However there are a lot of brands out their, so instead of attempting to list the companies that do test on animals I will tell you how you can find out about individual companies. I recommend you look into caringconsumer.com and leapingbunny.com. Both web sites allow you to search for companies that don't test on animals by both brand name and product type and on caringconsumer.com you can also search for companies that do test on animals by brand name.
Many companies use advertising on packaging stating that they do not test on animals as a corporate ethical statement, so the first line of acquiring the information would be to look there.Because of the ethical and moral implications companies would not advertise the fact that they do test on animals and it would be difficult to find such information in a companies literature if indeed they would even mention it.For a list of the companies that don't test on animals, you could go to Petakids.org
= "What are the test on animals for?" = = They test mainly new vaccines that they want to make available to humans, so they test on animals to make sure that the vaccines are safe, and actually work. =
