The Creation Account in Genesis tells us how the two God beings, Elohim, created man from the dust of the ground and breathe life into him and made him a living soul (nephesh) in the image of God. He is taken and placed into a newly formed Garden or Paradise and 'walks with God,' learning all that God teaches him. He is above all the other creatures of Creation and names each.

God sees the Man is alone and puts him into a deep sleep and creates the woman (out of man). She is made in the image of man. Together they walk in the Garden with God.

Then after much learning of the Law of God, the one prohibition of not eating of a particular tree happens - the woman is deceived by a serpent and the man listens to her and eats of the fruit - disobeying God's Law. Their minds are opened to the knowledge of good and evil and God removes them from the Garden and announces their punishment as well as, the serpents. They had fallen short and sinned. They were banned from the tree of Eternal Life and needed a Savior to reestablished their link to Salvation.

The account in Genesis continues with man going fully the wrong way and God destroying all but 8 people in a worldwide Flood. The offspring to follow expand throughout the Earth. The 1st Apostasy happens through one line while the plan of Salvation for mankind occurs through another. God calls out the descendants of Abraham to be a perfect example to all of mankind. But like all humans, they failed over and over again. Yet the promise of a Savior - the Sceptre promise began in Judah.

The above is just a recap of Genesis. There is more about humankind to discover in its chapters.

What is the difference between the story of creation and the theory of evolution?

The story of creation, as told in the Bible, is that God created everything in an order, starting with heaven and earth, from there he went on to give light to the earth, called the light day and the dark night, then he created water and sky and land, and the changing of night to day and day to night marks the passing of seasons and days and years, and then animals are created, and finally on the 6th day, God created man in his own image, man and woman. The whole principle of the story of creation is that humans and animals and all things in the world were created by a higher being, called God who is actually called other things, depending on your beliefs, and the idea is basically that you have to believe that The theory of evolution however, is that the earth is billions of years old (as opposed to several thousand years old) and that all creatures evolved from small organisms that grew from bacteria in the primeval sea of the earth. Over time creatures changed and adapted to their surroundings, and some creatures evolved to move onto land, as the oceans were receding. One species that lived in the rain forests of the slightly older earth was the monkeys, much like the monkeys we see today. Over time some apes left the trees and we can see them today, gorillas orangutans etc. One of the species that left the trees was called homo erectus and they were the ancestors of us today You must choose what you believe in. What is the truth that the first creations story reveals to us?

Leon R. Kass (The Beginning of Wisdom: Reading Genesis) says that the first biblical creation story (Genesis 1:1-2:4a) differs from the second creation story (Genesis 2:4b-25) not only in content but also in tone, mood and orientation. It also portrays a sequence of creation quite at odds with what science tells us really happened. So, any truths in the first creation story must be moral truths, not answers about how we were created and why we are here. The first biblical creation story tells us that the earth existed before the sun, moon and stars; that there was daylight, even day and night before there was a sun; and that plants were created before there was a sun to sustain them. It tells us, or seems to tell us, that God created every living thing just as we now know know them. Some scholars even say that the first creation story says that the earth itself was pre-existing and uncreated. For more information, please visit: http://christianity.answers.com/theology/the-story-of-creation

What does the story of Adam and Eve say about creation?

A:The story of Adam and Eve is undoubtedly a creation myth, not a true, historical account of creation. Even the differences between this, the second creation story in Genesis, and the first account (Genesis 1:1-2:4a) tell us that the two stories were developed by different people at different times and in different cultures. This account tells us, improbably, that God created Adam then created the animals one by one, trying to find a helpmeet for Adam. It was only when Adam had rejected every other creature as unsuitable for a close companion that God created a female of the species, Eve. This was a story with a hidden moral purpose, not a story of creation.

Why is the science creation story important?
