Hominids are early ancestors of humans that date back 2-3 million years ago.
A man named Louis Leakey found some bones of Austrolopithicus in Africa in 1970.
Austrolopithicus is the earliest ancestor of humans and were known to be ape-like and didn't know how to control fire They had the brain of a softball. Pronounciation: Aw-stro-low-pith-icuss
Second, is Homo Habilis, it means "upright man" they were know to walk upright like the modern human and control fire. They came after 10,000 years after Austrolopithicus.Their brains were a quarter the size of a modern human. Pronounciation: Homo-Hab-ill-is
Thirdly, is Homo Erectus. They were know to look more like the modern humans, but still had some ape-like features. They were also known to control fire and find out how to make tools. They had a brain half the size of a modern human today. Pronounciation: Homo-Erec-tuss
Finally, is Homo Sapiens, it means "wise man". Everyone today is a Homo Sapien. And has been since about 1 million years ago. They knew how to control fire and make tools and they also invented language and learned that they could reproduce the food they needed with seeds. They appeared in Africa and no one knows how. Pronounciation: Homo- Sape-e-n
All 4 Hominids had just appeared in Africa. no has a clue how. But we'll find out soon.
Hominids are a biological family that includes modern humans (Homo sapiens) as well as our extinct human ancestors and closest relatives, such as Homo erectus, Neanderthals, and Australopithecines. They are characterized by traits such as bipedalism, a large brain relative to body size, and tool use.
The term hominins is used for the group that leads to humans but not to chimps and gorillas and that encompasses all the human species that ever have existed.

A synonym for "hominid(s)" is "human-like"
Bipedalism: Hominids are characterized by walking on two legs. Larger brains: Hominids have larger brain sizes compared to other primates. Tool use: Hominids are known to use tools in their daily activities. Social behavior: Hominids exhibit complex social behaviors and interactions.
One characteristic of hominids that did not exist before humans is the ability to create and use advanced tools. This skill of crafting and utilizing tools is a unique trait that distinguishes humans from other hominids.
Hominids are important because they are the family of primates that includes humans and our closest evolutionary relatives. Studying hominids helps us understand human evolution, behavior, and physiology. They provide insights into the origins of characteristics that make us unique as a species.
Since we, homo sapiens, are hominids, hominids have not ended.

Hominids, including our early human ancestors, had a varied diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, roots, and sometimes meat from scavenging or hunting. Their diets evolved over time to adapt to their changing environments and available food sources.
Hominids are also called Bipeds.

Africa is the continent where the earliest hominids have been found. This is where humanity's ancestors, such as Australopithecus and early Homo species, existed millions of years ago.
Hominids
The heel, it's our unique characteristic (we being the only surviving hominids).
