People with red air have two copies of a recessive gene on chromosome number 4 which in turn causes a change in the MC1R protein. The MC1R protein is a protein that determines hair and skin color. Its a melanin-cide stimulating hormone receptor.

People with red hair have a genetic mutation in the MCIR gene that results in less eumelanin and more pheomelanin production in their hair. This leads to the characteristic red coloration. Red hair is a rare trait, with only around 1-2% of the world's population having naturally red hair.

The reason some people have brown hair is because of your genes;

every person unless Down syndrome has 46 chromosones, there are 23 from your mother and 23 from your father. These chromosomes contain information such as hair colour, eye coulour and when conjoined the more dominent colour, eg brown over blonde is more likely to become your hair colour. a down syndrome has one more chromosone.

or just cuz u do

Why is orange hair called red hair?

because the term "orange head," is not as catchy as "red head." A lot of terms today are attributed to how catchy they are. Ex. Ronald McDonald OR because there is a difference between "Orange" and "red". There are some people who have auburn hair that looks brownish, and there are some people who have coppery colored hair. And there are some who's hair looks straight up orange. I have red hair, and I hated it when people said my hair was "orange" - especially since mine was dark red. I found it rude. If people want to be that way, then I can just start calling all the blonds Yellow-heads.
