The value of 1940s silver-plated flatware can vary widely based on factors like brand, condition, and market demand. Generally, sets can range from $50 to several hundred dollars, with more collectible or rare pieces fetching higher prices. To get an accurate estimate, it's best to consult with an antique appraiser or check current listings on auction sites.
Silver plated? Not worth your time to extract. Plating puts such a small coating of silver on the object that the costs to extract it are more than any gains from the silver you are extracting.
Its worth a point of heroin
Flatware marked with "Alaska 96" is typically silver-plated rather than warranted sterling silver. The "96" often indicates a year or a specific design related to Alaska, but it does not guarantee the piece is made of sterling silver, which must be marked with "925" or "sterling." While silver-plated items can have value, their worth is generally less than that of sterling silver, depending on the brand, age, and condition.

Nothing
First of all, theres no such thing as "silver plated sterling". Sterling is 92.5% silver, anything plated is just plated. If the item is solid sterling silver, its metal value depends on the current price of silver - but it may be worth more as a collectible. If it's plated base metal it has very little value.
Absolutly NOTHING. I just gave away a 12 peice set of plated silverware. The silver shop was not interested.
