No, they settled in Mexico.
The Aztecs believed that Huitzilopochtli, their god of sun and war, guided them to find their new home in the Valley of Mexico. They believed that he directed them to settle in the place where they would see an eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus devouring a snake, as seen in their founding myth.
The Aztecs settled in Texcoco because of its strategic location near Lake Texcoco, which provided an abundance of natural resources like water and fertile land for agriculture. Texcoco also offered a defensible position against enemies and access to trade routes. Additionally, the Aztecs formed alliances with the ruling elite of Texcoco, strengthening their power in the region.
The Aztecs thanked their god Huitzilopochtli by building a temple in his honor at their new settlement of Tenochtitlan. They also performed rituals and sacrifices to show their gratitude for his guidance in helping them find their new home.
Actually, they settled on an island on the lake since you can't live on water, but they settled there because they asked their god where to settle, and he said to the priest that they would now where to found there first city where an eagle sat on a cactus with a snake in it's mout. This sign is also the symbol on Mexico's flag.
The Aztecs used a prophecy given by their god Huitzilopochtli which described an eagle perched on a cactus with a snake in its beak as the sign to know where to build their capital city, Tenochtitlan. They found this sign on a small island in Lake Texcoco in central Mexico, where they established their capital.
