In 20 years of professional Archaeology in Ireland and the UK, I can honestly say that I have never come across the term 'vertical floor'
There are probably thousands. Most archaeologists specialize in one geographic area or one time period, often both! An archaeologist may also specialize in a particular aspect such as flora or fauna, architecture, ceramics or lithics. There is no end to the possibilities. There is no such thing as exactly vertical because either it is vertical or it is not. You cannot have approximately vertical - it is not vertical, then. Vertical means at 90 degrees to the horizon (or horizontal).
I believe you are confusing "horizontal" with "vertical". "Vertical" means "from top to bottom", or "upright". "Horizontal" means "from left to right", or "lying".
