I JUST wrote in here 15 minutes ago pleading for someone to answer this because I had the EXACT same problem-just replaced the cluster, tried ressetting the codes by pulling off the positive cable, and my car would not run...After reading and searching for clues and answers on this website, I found that someones answer-try to lock the car and unlock the drivers side door WITH the key- the anti theft ligh stopped flashing and the car started right up and ran fine! I hope ur as fortuante as I was cuz, man that was frustrating... Thanks a million WikiAnswers (and those who helped answer)!
I had the same problem. The keyfob battery had died. The keyfob enables the ignition when you open the door. Try replacing the battery on the keyfob and then open the door with the keyfob (regardless of whether the door is already unlocked) Also if the car battery had recently died or have been disconnected, the ignition will be disabled upone i) charging of the battery or ii) re-connection of the battery. This is a real pain. Again the only fix that I know of is to use the keyfob to open the door thereby disabling the anti-theft mechanism. Hope this helps.
Before anything is the sensor in the key loose, if so try your best to keep in place and put in the ignition and turn key, if still no respnse you may have use a small diode to loop the security system VAT wire under ignition.briantaylor282@Yahoo for more direct talk and i can walk you you through the process.
I had this same problem when i bought my cavalier. I had the ignition lock\key part changed and I changed the ignition switch myself and it worked fine. Now I have yet another problem.
A you sure this light does not say, ABS. ABS stands for Anti-Lock Brakes. If the light is on there is a problem with the ABS system.A you sure this light does not say, ABS. ABS stands for Anti-Lock Brakes. If the light is on there is a problem with the ABS system.
Remove the fuse. smokingallowed say's: Removing the fuse will only erase the memory from the computer, and it will have to relearn what it should know. It will not reset the theft system. Here's how to reset the theft system. Roll the window down,(if power windows, turn the key off again)reach thru the window and try to start the car. When it don't start just leave the key on for around 20 minuets or so. If you dont leave it on long enough you will have to go through this waiting period again, but 20 mins. should do the trick. Then turn the key off for about 30 seconds, then start the car. P.S. Dont do anything electrical, like, push the brakes, open the door, mess with the radio. Just reach through the window to turn the key. I own three z24's... 97'97'99...On 2 of them('97 & '99) the theft system light will flash when it is activated and stop flasing after 20 mins. when it is reset, but the 3rd car('97) theft system light will not flash, just be lit and go off after the car is started.
The clutch start switch is bad.you will find it at the top of the clutch pedal
i replaced the fuel pump and now my theft system wont work
It COULD be the fuel pressure or if the theft system light on dash is blinking,it is that.
I have a 2002 and it is my security system. It shuts off when I start it.
If you try to start the car it should start then turn off by itself, just leave the key in the run position and the "Theft System" light on the dash will be flashing. Leave the key on for about 10 minutes and the light will stop flashing and go on solid, then the theft system is disabled.
If the theft system light is flashing...try to start car, when it starts and then dies, leave the key on for about 10 mins. until it stops flashing.Turn key off,Now start the car as usual.
Start the car..it will go dead. LEAVE the key on, until the theft system light on the dash stops flashing( 10 mins.) and just stays lit.Turn the key off.You are good to go.
Try to start the car, it will quickly stall and go dead. The theft system light will be flashing. Just leave the key on after it goes dead for about 10 mins. until the light stops flashing and just stays lit. Turn the key off, then start the car.

my 2002 Chevy Malibu theft system is faulty if the car doesnt start whyen u first crank jit the theft light blinks and u have to wait 10 min while it flashes till it stops then turn the key of then start it what could be the problem.
There is a wire right under your shifter,it must be broke
either change the computers to match engines that were switched or disconnect the theft system. you will probably need to take it to a good mechanic to have computer recalibrated on a machine
