A fuse doesn't go bad. It protects a circuit. If the circuit is overloaded the fuse blows. If your Nissan is running sluggish, it is not a fuse going bad.
I had the same problem before with a 2000 max GXE. My car has a standard transmission and sometimes if I took it out of gear the car woould shut down a 50MPH. Took it to dealer and somehou the ECM lost the program. There could be more issues like I was planing to change the Idle valve, although since there were no codes I decided to take it to the dealer. It cost me $105 but it was better than me hunting in the dark. My 2 cents

Pulling the trailer is not a problem the issue is stopping it with the xterra. = ask yourself == Does trailer have brakes? Surge or electric will be needed.
Check your transmission fluid. If not dirty or low it is either a worn clutch pack or ECM problem.
