The latch itself is held on with bolts, easy enough to change. The release cable has to be fed down the inside of the rocker panel and into the trunk.
I had this problem a few weeks ago on my 2001 silverado. I had to hit the toor from the outside with my shoulder like a football player might. The door then opened right up. I think I am going to have the problem again, as it seems that the door latch is worn and does not function correctly. I plan on replacing it soon
The hood latch
Yes. It is in the door latch.
I talked to a mechanic about that just today. He said there are no adjustments, they just wear out over time. The only solution is to replace the latch. About $60 to $70 for the part, and it's easy to do if you're mechanically inclined. It might cost $150 or more to have a shop do it. Until then, there's a trick -- if you hold the trunk closed, insert the key and turn it opposite from the direction to lock it, the trunk will latch. That's the only thing you can do until you replace the part. Sorry.

If the door latch on a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer is broken on the car frame, a new latch might have to be welded in. The old door latch will have to be cut out with a torch. If the latch is broken on the door, a new door might be cheaper than welding in a new latch.
You can close the hood latch, on your Chevrolet Malibu, by gently pushing downward on the hood. The latch may need to be sprayed with a lubricant.
To fix a broken screen door handle latch, you can try the following steps: Remove the broken latch by unscrewing it from the door. Purchase a replacement latch that matches the size and style of the broken one. Install the new latch by screwing it into place on the door. Test the latch to ensure it is working properly.
To troubleshoot and fix a malfunctioning screen door latch lock, first check for any debris or obstructions in the latch mechanism. Clean and lubricate the latch to ensure smooth operation. If the latch is damaged or worn, consider replacing it with a new one. Adjust the strike plate if necessary to ensure proper alignment with the latch. Test the latch multiple times to ensure it is functioning correctly.
On the 2004 model (as well as some others) there will be two screws on either side of the latch as you look at it with the gloe box door open. Simply remove those two screws and press on the latch and it will come out. If your latch broke as mine did you may have to use a little bit of pressure. Once you have the old latch out place the new latch in the slt and replace the screws.
Just "pop" off the Pella Badge with a knife or something ( it is on there with a sticky material) Underneath you will find a Phillips screw that releases the wooden handle. This allows access to the square spline to fall out. Then simply wiggle the broken latch out an reinstall the new one. The broken latch refused to come out until I removed the screen protector from the outside of the screen door. Then it worked like a charm.
To unlock a screen door, look for a latch or lock mechanism on the door handle. Turn the knob or slide the latch to the unlocked position. If there is a keyhole, use the appropriate key to unlock the door. If you are unsure how to unlock the screen door, consult the manufacturer's instructions or seek assistance from a professional locksmith.
Bar from the handle to the latch is broken or disconnected.
I used a short bunge cord hooked on the metal bracket in back of the box to the front latch. Not the best fix - but it works (bertter than paying $90 for a new box).
If it is not visible in the door jambs - it may incorporated in the latch mechanism similar to the newer Ford models
If it is just a screen door, not a storm door, you take it off the wall, flip it so the latch is on the left and put the hinges on the right side on the outside of the door. Depending on the opening, the door may not fit when you flip it around. The top or bottom may be cut on a slope to fit the opening.
