Replace the coolant temp sensor.
It could be the starter solenoid
if you have smoke coming from your battery then the cause sounds like a dead short the possble pop you heard would be one of the major fuses, not the tiny ones. you may have a cable rubbed through,or other major wiring fault
it doesnt start when its foggy out because all the wetness in the air
WHAT DOES THE CAR DO WHEN YOU TRY TO START IT? NOTHING? JUST CRANKS? CLICKS,FAST/SINGLE?
My '88 xlt starts cold but after heating up for half hour,i turn it off,but it cranks again but doesn't start.
make sure you have fuel coming to your injectors, could be your fuel pump.
do you mean it cranks, but will not start?
The white smoke could be caused by coolant leaking into the combustion chamber, though a cracked head or bad gasket.
1989 ford F250 Fuel Problems, It cranks but wont start
Yes
how does it stall if it wont start?
Cranks is the motor turning over, But cranks and won't start means either you no fuel or no spark or both.
An engine which cranks but will not start is not receiving enough fuel or has no spark. A clogged fuel filter or bad spark plugs often cause this problem.
There is no such thing as a 1938 bronco. Ford didnt start production of the bronco until 1966.
its not your ignition its your crankshaft sensor that's the same problem i had.
If it just cranks and cranks and cranks then it's likely fuel pump. If it died and it won't turn over anymore, likely alternator.
