If you want to go to jail, have a record, have a fine and court costs to pay on top of the repair bill, go ahead and steal it back. When you took it there to be fixed, you agreed to pay for it. The repair shop can keep it, charge you storage for it and after going to court, sell it to recover the cost of repair. All perfectly legal.

it really depends on your local and state laws. i know here in MI you have to have the bill completely paid before you get your vehicle back, and if you try to take it after hours you can actually get arrested for stealing your own vehicle. wacky stuff. best think would be to ask the shop and see what they say.
