You should be wary of using acrylic paint outdoors because it is not water resistant. If it rains, it will wash off or be destroyed by extended sunlight. If you use a lacquer to cover the paint, it may last longer, but oil paints are much more preferable. They can last 4-5 years and do not wash off in the rain or bake off in the sun.

Yes you can. As part of refurnishing your house for a make-over, you can take risk and decide how you want. The first step for using acrylic paint is by having the basic knowledge when it comes to properties of metal and the actual paint. Upon deciding, you can then add a primer coat. Allow it to dry. You have to make sure that everything is fully dry so you can now apply the new paint into your pine bedroom furniture or any other house furniture. Also please keep in mind that if it is metal, oil-based primer is needed because water soluble primers doesn't work with the metal surface.

You possibly can, but I prefer not to use it directly on the metal. I always prime metal with an auto body grey primer spray. After this you can use almost anything, but if I want it to last many years, I always finish it with an enamel type paint.

Not a good idea, it will not last. Use a good anti-rust metal paint like Tremclad.

Can you paint flat paint over an acrylic paint?

Do you realize that you can get FLAT ACRYLIC PAINT. Flat paint refers to the gloss level. You may want Gloss, Satin, Lowsheen or Flat. Acrylic paint on the other hand refers to what the paint is based on or what binder is being used. Acrylic paint is also refered to as waterbased paint. You most likely are referring to putting flat acrylic over lowsheen or gloss acrylic. In answer to your question - as long as they are both acrylic than you will not have any problems. I am in this answer assuming that you are referring you house paints. If not than the same principle applies - acrylic over acrylic is fine. To keep acrylic from going glossy just don't polish it.
