You could but it would be extremely bright! An incandescent lamp of 60 watt is about 800 lumens And so a 10 watt LED lamp should be plenty big enough. If you want as much light as possible instead of energy saving then you can fit bigger wattage LED lamps. Also, because they run a lot cooler, you can often exceed the maximum (Incandescent) rating for the fitting.

Yes, that should not be a problem. The wattage maximum on the light fixture refers to the actual power used by the bulb, which is probably about 20 watts for a "100 W equivalent" LED bulb. The packaging for the LED bulb should state the actual power used.

A 60 watt LED will put out an increadable amount of light for an outside post fixture. You may want to cut the wattage back to 6 watts for a more refined light output. To answer the question as it is , yes it can be done.

Information on CFL light bulbs?

A compact fluorescent lamp (CFL), also called compact fluorescent light, energy-saving light, and compact fluorescent tube, is a fluorescent lamp designed to replace an incandescent lamp; some types fit into light fixtures formerly used for incandescent lamps. The lamps use a tube which is curved or folded to fit into the space of an incandescent bulb, and a compact electronic ballast in the base of the lamp.

What is a halogen microwave?

There is no halogen microwave. There is a halogen microwave oven bulb. (The technical term for a "bulb" is a lamp.) Some microwave ovens use a halogen lamp to light up the oven cavity. Replacing them is similar to replacing a "regular" incandescent lamp, except that when halogen lamps are being replaced, it is critical not to touch the lamp with bare fingers. Leaving skin oils on a halogen lamp shortens the lamp life and can set up a dangerous situation where the lamp might overheat.

What is the part of the light bulb that glows?

In an incandescent lamp, it is called a filament. It is usually made out of Tungsten. The resistance in the filament causes it to heat up, and then glow. In a neon lamp it is plasma, which is an ionized gas. In a fluorescent bulb mercury vapor is ionized to produce UV radiation, that hits the phosphor coating on the outside of the bulb and that glows.
