Yes, you can dye white acrylic paint with food coloring, I just tried it because I was wondering the same thing and I need blue paint which I didn't have. So I mixed one drop of blue food dye with a nickel sized amount of white acrylic paint. The color may vary on the amount of drops used and the amount of paint used.

∙ 12y agoIF i understand correctly... an attempt was made to tint the paint with food color?... well, dont. If the food coloring is water based, and so is the paint, you're fine, or oil with oil, but anything else, and you will have problems... oil tint in waterbase will seep out like a magic marker through the paint in streaks, and latex in oil wont bleed like the other, but just won't mix.

You could, but food colouring is not intended to be used in such a manner and will not last. It is not light-fast.
