How cold is cold? If you are talking 0F or -15C or colder, your oil is congealing. You need an engine heater to turn your oil from lard back to oil so it will lubricate your engine. Otherwise, your battery might check out, however, it is not putting out quite enough amperage. You either have a cell in it about to die or you need a battery of higher amperage.
Dead battery, defective ignition switch, blown main fuse, loose or corroded battery cable at either end.
Might be nothing more that dirty terminals or a bad ground connection. Clean the terminals with a battery tool (most partrs stores should have these). Make sure the termilals and the cables are CLEAN and free from all schmutz. If the problem persists, have the battery checked for a bad cell. many places do that for free. After that it gets complicated.
start by having the battery checked. If the battery is good, then check the starter relay. If this is bad, repalce the starter. Also check battery connections. Sometimes they can seem tight but just aren't. Take them off the battery terminals and clean them. This will also stop your batter from charging.
I had a similar problem turns out the Alternator was bad.
Undo the battery terminals and give them a good cleaning with a wire brush, it doesn't take very much corrosion for the side post terminals to stop working.
Cleaning the battery terminals had nothing to do with the engine not idling properly. Just a coincidence.

Bad starter solenoid? Loose or corroded battery terminals? Weak battery? Bad neutral switch?
Did it run before you swapped batteries or did you guess it was a bad battery. Did you have the old battery tested? If it ran before you swapped batteries then i would say you left something unhooked or the battery terminals are cruddy and need cleaned
dead battery or try taking the battery terminals off and cleaning the terminals and battery cables with a wire brush and rehook.
just like any other battery nothing special disconnect the terminals, remove the battery and put new one in

Nothing. An auto battery system is 12V DC. If both terminals aren't in the loop (positive through the current path and back to negative) nothing happens.
Check your battery terminals, when it has enough power to run the starter, then suddenly not its probably a loose or corroded battery connection.
Depends on what kind of battery you lick. If you lick a D, C, AA or AAA battery, nothing will happen because your tongue won't touch both positive and negative terminals. However, if you lick a 4.5-Volt or a 9-Volt battery so that your tongue touches both positive and negative terminals, you'll feel a slight unpleasant harmless shock.
Battery terminals are corroded no doubt... It could be the battery terminals, especially if all other electrical devices such as the dome light and dashboard indicator lights turn off when the starter clicks. If all other lights remain on but are dim, it could be a low battery. If everything stays on and the brightness of the lights doesn't really change when you try to start it, it could be a bad starter. If it's the battery terminals, clean them and use a terminal protectant to keep the terminal from corroding again. But recognize that when a battery is starting to go bad it often starts giving off acid fumes that start or accellerate the terminal corrosion process. After cleaning the terminals, take the car to one of the do-it-yourself auto parts stores and have the electrical system checked. If the battery passes, keep watching it for potential problems.
