The elements of visual art are components or parts of a work of art that can be isolated and defined. The elements are the following:
Line, shape, color, value, space, form, texture.
Different authors have slightly different lists of elements. Sometimes form is called mass. Some authors include time, direction, size, and others. The elements, along with the principles of visual art, became codified as a way of discussing the appearance of works of visual art.

In visual arts, elements of organization, such as balance, contrast, alignment, repetition, and proximity, serve to create a cohesive and engaging composition. Balance ensures visual stability, while contrast highlights key elements and draws attention. Alignment helps guide the viewer's eye through the artwork, and repetition reinforces themes or motifs. Together, these principles enable artists to effectively communicate their message and evoke emotional responses from the audience.
