earthquakes are when two plates push against one another and the friction between these two plates is where the earthquake begins. the center of the friction is called the focus and the place directly over the focus on the top of the plate is the epicenter. you know that an earthquake is going to happen when you get tremors; mini earthquakes 😊 hope I helped
