finding a place to live when you have a felony of any kind on your record is EXTREMELY difficult. My husband and I both have a felony on our record because we used to work nights and we put our 3 year old son down for a nap during the day one time and he got out and went 2 houses down and across the street to a neighbor who called the police. We were both charged with felony injury to a child because he "could have" gotten hurt not because he did. He wasn't injured at all but now trying to find somewhere to rent is next to impossible! Property Management places dont care what the felony was for or how long ago it was, they automatically deny you. The best option is to look for a private owner that won't do a background check. That is what we have had to do. We also have a large dog which makes it even harder so I can sympathize with you. Check Craigslist in your area www.craigslist.com or your local newspaper. The only problem we have found with owner managed properties is they tend to be a little more intrusive while you live there because to them it is still their home. Good luck with your search. We are currently looking to move to a smaller home because the one we have is just to big and about twice what we need as far as space goes so we are struggling to find another, smaller place that will allow our dog. Keep us posted on how your house hunting goes!
You can help the homeless by offering them a place to live temporarily or maybe helping them find employment so they can make money to find a place to live. Homeless people are not bums with no direction. They simply need help getting back on their feet.
Yes they can. You do not even have to be convicted. Most apartments have a clause that states "we may deny your application if you have ever been CHARGED with a felony". My advice is find a apartment locator. They work with many differnet apartment complexes and can usually help you out without you incurring any costs for the location service. This advice reflects Texas state law which is where I live. Bottom line: Seek advice from an apartment locator. -Dan in Dallas Yes they can. You do not even have to be convicted. It depends on the state you live in and the circumstances of the DUI. Most states have rules in place which turn a DUI from a misdemeanor into a felony upon a certain number of repeated offenses. Also, factors such as child endangerment or death can change the offense.
