i had a faulty diesel injector on my 2.4jtd it had done 110000 miles.
the faults on a diesel are it sounds like a tractor as most new deisels run quite quiet, the engine shakes like mad, very bad mpg, unburned diesel smoke out exhaust when the injector fails and sometimes no fault will regester on the comp when hooked up. mine did not took months to find what was At Fault. i also advise to clean egr valve out on routine every 6 months as they are bad for sooting and sticking open.
im not sure the fault on petrol cars but im sure it will also have a missfiring problem and unspent fuel out of exhaust and lack of mpg.
listen for a clacking noise like the piece of plastic u used to put on ur back wheel of ur push bike. mine sounded like a more intense version than that. Ford Mondeo's are prone to injector faults in there deisels.
running cars on low dirty fuel is a major cause of these problems.
i would say to anyone put injector cleaner in and run high revs aslong as it does not sound too badly damaged it could just be a blocked injector and new injectors are not exactly cheap. mine cost £300 then the labour cost of fitting it
hope this helps for any unlucky people who have this fault.
A faulty fuel injector will usually result in the vehicle having a misfire on that specific cylinder. There are several ways to check if it is bad, one of them being to remove it and do a flow test on it. This requires hooking it up to a special machine that will simulate the conditions the fuel injector is under when it is installed in the vehicle.
Rough running and very bad idle. They will also put more fuel into the cylinder than it can burn. The extra fuel will end up in the oil pan so your oil level will rise and it will smell like fuel. You can start the car and pressurize the fuel system. Shut the car off and watch the pressure at the fuel rail. If it drops too much either the injector or the pressure regulator check valve is faulty. If you have a cylinder that is misfiring, you can swap the injector from that cylinder with the injector of a cylinder that isn't and if the misfire moves that injector is bad.
If your car is stalling a lot, it may be your fuel injector that has gone bad. If your car is hard to start, it may also be a bad fuel injector.
you should have fuel injection if this is the case either the injectors are bad or the circuit that controls the injectors are faulty
You may have a bad fuel pump relay or a blown fuel pump fuse.
Most likely it's the fuel pump, but check the fuel filter first, it may be plugged up.
It is the connection between the fuel lines and the injectors.
Fuel injectors need to be replaced every so often. If the fuel injectors are not working, they may be too old, and need to be replaced or put in properly.
Bad fuel pump, clogged or broken fuel lines, or if it is fuel injected it could be bad fuel injectors.
Bad fuel line? Bad fuel filter? Bad fuel tank? Bad throttle body? Bad injectors?
Possible reasons the fuel injectors are not working: Faulty ECM (engine control module, computer) Faulty fuel injector(s). Fuel injectors clogged. Insufficient fuel pressure. Bad Ground. Faulty wiring otherwise.
you may have bad injectors, or not enough fuel pressure
Bad fuel filter or clogged fuel injectors
Bad as in dirty would simply supply unfiltered fuel to the injectors resulting in misfiring, hard starting and uneven and generally bad acceleration.Bad as in faulty could lead to fuel starvation, motor won't start, rev,cut out etc. no, supply unfiltered gas to the injectors? its a restriction, meaning no or very little gas to injectors, low or no fuel pressure
bad fuel injectors, bad timing, bad spark plugs and wires, clogged catalytic converter.
Check the fuel injectors . one or more are bad or going bad.
Switch the electrical connections between the two injectors and see if the same one is still bad or if the problem switched to the other one. If the same one is bad, you have a bad injector.
You either have bad fuel injectors or your fuel pressure regulator has gone bad
A clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump or the fuel line is blocked/damaged. What about a fuel relay fuse?
Bad fuel injectors?Weak fuel pump?Bad fuel filter?
