all you have to do is unscrew the bolt that's on the tail light cover and the whole thing will come out. Then you just twist the light fixture to pop them out of the cover.

The Chevrolet Colorado brake light switch is quite simple to change. The brake light switch simply plugs in and out.
If you look at the middle brake light, you'll notice two (2) notches on the left and right of the light. (This is looking at the brake light from the outside of the car, not the inside of the hatch.) Using a flathead screwdriver, pry the two screw covers off (they are plastic just like the rest of the brake light cover). Unscrew the screws and presto, you find the back to the light.
Normally that light is an indication there is a problem with the brake system and MOST of the time that is low on brake fluid. There is a possibility (though remote) there is a problem with the switch on the emergency brake pedal.
