How do you get the old rod in Pokemon SoulSilver?

To acquire the Old Rod in Pokemon Platinum, you must first go to Jubilife City. Upon entering the city, go a little north and then walk west until you enter a connecting building. Inside the connecting building will be a fisherman and another person. Talk to the fisherman, and then affirm that fishing is good. He will then give you the Old Rod.

You go to Route 32 and just past the cave there is a PokeCenter,

go inside of it and there will be a fisher man.

Talk to him and he will talk a bit but you will get the Old Rod
