Take your hot (red) wire and connect it to the 12v positive from the battery or any other ignition source. Ground the black wire. Solder the yellow (out) wire to the power in of whatever you are filtering (head unit, amp, lighter, etc)
Open hood. Remove plastic housing securing air filter. Install new filter. Replace what you have removed. Your finished!

The only way to change the filter is to remove the trans, take the trans apart, assembling with new gasket, the best fix for this is to install an inline filter.
