The lamp out module is located under the center console/trip computer area. The trip computer cover has to be removed. The module is about 2 X 3 inches in size. The module has a 16 pin connector plug assembly so it is not too hard to replace once you get the console apart. I just paid $200.00 to have this replaced. The part was close to $80.00. When I got home I took the old module apart and found it only had a bad solder connection on the ground lug of the connector socket. My guess is that this connection heated up from the current going through it, and after eleven years it finally failed. The technician told me he had replaced several of these modules. He told me they usually go bad around 100k miles. I have 175k miles on my explorer. My symptom was the that my left headlight would not work on low beam. If anyone else has this problem, (be sure to check the headlamp and fuses first) spend an hour or two taking the module out yourself, then pop it apart and look at the solder connections on the connector socket. At least you'll save $120.00 in labor if you replace the module yourself. Good Luck!
The gas gauge in the Eddie Bauer Explorer probably does not work due to a bad fuel sending unit. The sending unit is in the fuel tank in the same access area as the fuel pump.

What causes it not to crank? First thing to look at is the battery. Have it tested to see if it is working as it should. Most times, if its not cranking at all, its the battery.
Need to know what the problems are.
