Remove the heat shield. There are two o2 sensors, one before and one after the converter. They are different. There is a special socket that is made for this job. It's about $15. It fits over the wire. Get the sensor with a direct fit. That means it just plugs in to the same wire as the one you will remove. Use a torch, propane will do and heat the manifold near the sensor. It should then unscrew without too much difficulty. Sometimes it can be done w/o the heat, but it helps. Jay kaplan

∙ 16y agoLocating it is your first challenge. You should be able to to pull the wire off and it should have a socket head. It's normally located around the exhaust manifold somewhere, and are normally hard as hell to take off because the extreme heat it is subjected to.
