A work of classical art typically refers to artistic creations from ancient civilizations, particularly those of Greece and Rome, known for their emphasis on harmony, proportion, and beauty. Examples include sculptures like Michelangelo's "David" and paintings such as Raphael's "School of Athens." These artworks often embody ideals of humanism and have significantly influenced Western art and culture. Classical art is characterized by its attention to detail, anatomical accuracy, and the exploration of themes such as mythology, history, and human emotion.

If you look at the buildings in Washington DC or any statecapital you will see classical styles. Everyone one of them is a copy of classical art. There are Ironic column's domes, leaves and flowers along the mouldings, and other elements of the classical Rome and Greece. The statues of our leaders are all classical. I remember seeing one with George Washington wearing a toga and laurel leaves on his head. This is pure classical art. Many of our early artist's had classical elements in their paintings with how they posed subjects and in the backgrounds. If you look carefully at the backgrounds of art in the 18 and 1900's you will that the subjects are posed in ancient Greece and Rome. Over and over elements of classical art are used and still used today in our art and buildings.
