i can do a full head and valves compleat in 8 hours.cleaning up before replacing takes time all must be clean,if you have a tension wrench then a novis should replace and tune the head and motor in 2 hours,make sure u bleed the water system well or u could crack the head bazmar

When you get the car going temperature gauge is normal but when you shut it off the tiny stick touches the light why is that?
The coolant stops pumping through the block and heads once the engine is shut down. The block and heads are still hot so the coolant in the block and heads temporarily gets hotter.
Can you paint sbc heads with duplicolor metalcast paint - do the heads get hotter than 500 degrees?
I did this, the paint discoloured around the exhaust ports. Mind you this was on my race car and is operated at high throttle settings for long periods of time. Thanks alot. Do you happen to know how hot the heads actually get? There is high heat paint that is good for up to 1200 degrees and there is engine paint good for 500 degrees. How do you know what you can use on what parts? The headers I know have to have the high heat, but do the heads get close to that? I can't seem to find out how hot the diff parts of the engine get anywhere :)!

How do you fix a blown head gasket for a 305?
First, take heads off car and have them magna-fluxed at a good machine shop. If no cracks make sure and have heads SURFACED. Put heads back on with new gaskets.
