Does Claire's use a gun for cartilage piercings?

A piercing gun should not be used on cartilage as it's more likely to cause damage to the cartilage. Piercing guns should be avoided at all costs due to the multiple health risks. If you want a piercing go to a piercing studio where there are professionally trained piercers who use the correct jewelry and safe tools.

I got a Cartilage ear piercing last night and it still hurts to twist it Is that okay My ear piercer told me to twist it and I have done it with previous piercings?

Cartilage is firmer tissue than just an earlobe, for example, so it may be more difficult to twist a cartilage piercing than it is a regular ear piercing. Since you just got it done, it is probably swollen, which would also make twisting it more difficult. Make sure you clean around the piercing very well with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. You also might put an ice pack on the piercing to help the swelling go down. If you do this, it should start to feel better in a couple of days. If it becomes more sore or red and inflamed, you should go have it checked out immediately because it may be infected.

Is swelling and redness around the piercing site in the cartilage after 6 days normal?

It's not too abnormal... But watch it, it shouldn't last for too much longer. Definitely not more than a week more.

How should you clean your tragus piercing it has a labret stud?

New Piercing Aftercare1) Clean your cartilage piercing twice a day for the next 3 days, once in the morning and again at night. You can do this in the shower or bath but you must always rinse the piercing out using fresh running water.1a) Shampoo, Conditioner, Soap-up and Rinse off using your normal bath products. We don't want any other cleaning or grooming products to enter a piercing we are trying to clean. Leave cleaning your cartilage piercing as the last thing you clean before exiting the shower or bath.1b) Using your Soft Soap brand liquid anti-bacterial soap apply a small amount to your hand and lather it up. Once lathered, apply this to the cartilage piercing and jewellery, working it around the piercing by rotating the ring or shuffling the stud. Once the Soft Soap is in the piercing wait a few moments then rinse the piercing in running water again rotating the ring or shuffling the stud to ensure all the soap is out of the cartilage and piercing.1c) Come out of the shower or bath and towel dry, but use a tissue to dry the cartilage piercing out thoroughly (towels can retain bacteria and should not be used on new or fresh piercings)After 3 DaysFollow the above steps 1a through 1c only once a day for the next three to four weeks. Between actual cleanings you may rotate the ring or shuffle the stud only under running water after you have soaped up and rinsed off and don't intend on using any other cleaning or grooming products. After 4 WeeksFollow the above steps 1a through 1c only once every 2 or 3 days for the next three to four months. Over cleaning is the number one cause of irritated piercings. Striping the natural skin oils will tend to dry the cartilage piercing out causing it to look red and irritated.Things Not to Do with New Cartilage PiercingsDo not use Epsom Salts, Table Salt, Betadine, Tea Tree Oil, Polysporin, Neosporin, Bacitracin, Bactroban, Bactine or any other topical solution or ointment on your piercing what so ever. These products are not for use on puncture wounds. If it's not listed on the above aftercare guide don't use it on the piercing!Do not use Sun Block, Sun Tan Lotion, Baby Oil or any other skin care product on a new or unseasoned piercing. If you think you have trouble with your piercing contact your piercer and NEVER remove the jewellery from a suspected infected piercing .

What is a bar piercing?

First let us define what is body piercing, body piercing is creating an opening in the human body in which a jewelry may be worn in that hole, it is simply defined as the practice of puncturing or cutting a human body. It may sound so simple yet it sounds so painful right? Imagine cutting or making a hole in your body, doesn't that hurt? Now let us discuss a more specific kind of body piercing, the industrial bar piercing. What is this all about? Basically any two piercing holes that are connected with an extra long barbell is called the cartilage piercing of the ear or industrial piercing. There is actually a standard in industrial, the two helix peircings. Helix is the folded rim of skin and cartilage around most of the outer ear. It is the rounded and hard part of our ear. But, industrials can be a wide range of connected piercings. Industrial piercing in North America, sometimes called as scaffold piercing in UK and IRL or construction piercing is, like what we have said earlier, any two pierced holes connected with a single straight piece of jewelry. For further explanation, however, it typically refers to a double perforation of the upper ear cartilage. Two peircings are made, one of which is in the anti-helix piercing, located fairly close to the head. The second one is located further down the cartilage on the opposite side of the ear and is called the helix piercing. From behind the ear a straight barbell is inserted trough the first piercing then travels diagonally across the front of the upper cartilage. After it goes through the second piercing, it is secured with a screw-on bead behind the second hole. Because you created a hole in the human body more especially in the ear cartilage, it will be needing more time to heal. Healing process is no joke because it is typically being healed in three months and can last for a year until it is fully healed. The danger of course is that during the process of piercing and in the healing period, it is prone to infection. The barbell jewelry is worn during the healing period; it is usually 14g and is made with a sterile hollow piercing needle. Captive bead rings aka CBRs are sometimes used instead of the barbell itself and are exchanged with the barbell after the healing is complete. The use of these CBRs results in faster healing but this technique may cause improper alignment of the piercings when exchange after the healing. A flexible plastic tub can also be used and swapped for a metal bar when it is healed Two or more industrial piercing on one ear creates four or more holes. Hence, it is often called a cage.

Can i dye my hair after having your cartilage pierced?

Well, you CAN, theoretically, but you'd have to be insanely careful. Getting bleach or chemical dye in the open, unhealed piercing would be horrible for it. I'm assuming this is a new piercing? I have purple hair and I have to re-dye it every few weeks or so, and so far I haven't had a problem. One time I was careless and although I did not get dye on the piercing itself, I got it on the surrounding skin, which irritated my piercing like a mother! Point is, let a professional do it if you must, just be incredibly careful. Or even better, wait a few weeks until the piercing has had more time to heal. The last thing you'd want is to irritate the already tender new piercing further. If it's an old piercing then I guess never mind!

Monroe piercing bump?

May be folleculitus which is pretty common on piercings, it means something has gotten stuck inside the piercing, usually caused by makeup or touching piercing with dirty hands. To heal it use hot compresses as often as possible, tea tree oil can also be used but should only be used as a last resort as it can also kill new cells which will make it take longer to heal; leaving you more susceptable to an infection as it will be an open wound for longer.

You have to take out your nose piercing for your job will it close?

It depends on how long you've had it pierced for. Even if you've had it for 2 years, taking it out for even 6 hours could make it hard to put back in. I suggest getting a retainer (http://www.bodycandy.com/cgi-bin/category/retainers) to use during work. If you just got it done within the last month or so, you need to be careful about switching it to put the retainer in. If it isn't healed, taking out the piercing can cause scarring/infection/bump. If you can, talk to the piercer about what to do.
