Why was Andy Kaufman in only 79 Taxi episodes?
It was one of his demands before signing to the show that he only appear in half the episodes. He also required an hour & a half to practice transcendental meditation prior to filming; and a guest spot for Tony Clifton in one episode. AND his own network special, which is a delight to behold. Shapiro & West slightly negotiated the deal, thus Andy appeared in more than half the episodes.

Also, the following full-hour specials from each season are a full-hour Christmas special, two "Atomic Betty Classics" specials that are parodies of fairytales with princesses, and the Grand Finale Spectacular.
