just called Schuck's Auto Parts here in WA state and they have available a rebuilt starter for my '96 3.2 TL for $181.00 + my old starter. However, since an auto shop will jack up their buying price 20% to 40%, you'll pay appreciably more than this, if you have an auto shop replace it. My guess is two hours labor at at least $65/hr + the cost of the starter at about $250.00. You'll be looking at about $400.00, or you can replace it yourself and save more than $200.00.
The starter is located on the top of the engine, on the driver's side under the intake manifold. You remove the rear manifold mounting bracket to get to it.
Replace your ignition lock assembly.
