Really? Tattoo for Beginners 101...ANYTHING that is used for a tattoo is biohazardous after use, and should be treated and handled as though it is covered in HIV infected blood. A rubber tattoo grip would fall under this category, but if you have to ask I'm taking it that you barely know what you're doing let alone having the knowledge or access to proper sterilization techniques or tools. You would have to clean them in a 5 part process for maximum sterility. First you would put on disposable gloves, a disposable apron, disposable sleeve guards, disposable surgical mask, and in my shop I also implement hair nets when scrubbing clamps or tubes. You would then place the soiled grips in a clean disposable cup and place this in an ultrasonic cleaner for upwards of 20 minutes to a half an hour, then you would take the grips and place them in a bath of Madacide in a sterile container for about another 15-20 minutes, take them out and scrub them thoroughly with a sterile scrubbing brush with a green soap solution which I cut with a little bit more madacide, rinse them in distilled water, place them in sterile autoclave pouches and then run them through a medical autoclave for a full cycle with a spore test to ensure sterility of the autoclave and sterilization area. I would suggest that you use nothing but disposable tubes which you can get off of the internet for wholesale prices. And if you are the type of person who prefers the added feel of a grip, take a paper towel and fold it down a few times till it is a strip, tape it to the grip of the tube and then wrap it around the grip till it is at the desired thickness for you and tape it down again. It's a much more hygienic approach. Be safe and best of luck.
It could be too loose. Old belts become slick and may not grip like they should. Worn pulley could do it too. Check the tension. If it's OK, they have commercial sprays that help the belt grip better.
