Disconnect fuel fill hose. Remove skid plate [gas tank shield , 2 bolts on tank straps and lower tank some, disconnect 2 fuel lines [special tool] unplug elect. conn. at top of tank. Lower tank to ground. With brass punch [no sparks] tap lock ring counter clockwise [to the left] remove and tilt fuel pump out of tank...reinstall in reverse.
Or cut a 8.5'' square hole above fuel tank behind rear seat...make access panel for next time...save your back...and armpits from filling up with gas! 23 gal tank full of gas is heavy.

The fuel pump on the frame is not strong enough to pull fuel directly from the tank. Ford and their wonderful two pump system. You'll need to replace the pump in the tank.
you must remove the puel tank. the fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. remove the battery cable, remove fuel tank, remove gauge assembly from inside the fuel tank, disconnect wiring harness replace fuel pump motor on inside of gauge unit, reverse procedure to complete job. if you are mechanically inclined you can complete the job for the cost of the fuel tank, $50.00 to $75.00.

no you cant. to replace the fuel pump for this model you have to remove the fuel tank. to remove the tank you have to pick up the car.
The fuel pump is down in the gas tank. Remove the tank and you will see where the fuel pump is plugged in. Just remove the bolts and unplug everything and reverse the procedure with your new pump.
first check your fuses and fuel relays make your power to the pump. check the fuel reset swich. i good manual would be a good start..
