Tectonic plates are formed when a new crust is created ,it forms what looks like giant plates. One side of the plate is where new crust is being made, while the other side is where older crust is being destroyed. These plates only move from 5-10 cm a year.

When 2 plates move away from one another (as in the case of a constructive plate boundary), magma from the underlying mantle rises to the surface where it cools and solidifies along the fault. At times, fissures along the plate boundary/fault lines allow the magma to continue rising upwards and cool on the plate surface, forming layers of rock which heap onto one another, eventually resulting in the formation of a volcano over time. The shape of the volcano slope is determined by the viscosity of the lava which emerges from the mantle beneath the crust.

Do tectonic plates make caves?

Caves are formed in many ways but mostly by chemical weathering of the surface rock. Tectonic plates on the other hand are huge slabs of rock that form the Earth's crust. Caves are not formed by tectonic plates, think of caves as tiny boreholes in the very surface of a tectonic plate. I agree

What causes plateaus to form?

Mountains and Plateaus are formed when tectonic plates collide with one another. The Himalayas were formed and are still growing as the two tectonic plates they sit on are still pushing on one another.
