A healing wound usually starts to itch as the scab dries out(which is nothing more than red bloods cells for nutrition, white blood cells to fight infection and platelets to stop blood flow). If the area is more red and swollen and painful-you may need antibiotics...probably oral ones CONSIDERING the source you are using for medical assistance....Actually,a healing knee would have to take in account your constant movement-You must keep area covered with a bandage(aid) and bacitracin OINTMENT or the scab will rip away from the healing skin each time knee is flexed. If this is route chosen,it must be checked and changed daily. Covering wounds keeps out germs, but allows the bad ones to grow in the dark damp warmth, If it starts to ooze as scab softens this is ok,but excess yellow esp. green drainage shows infection. Since I assume you are not in the military-your medic could advise you-1)Wash area gently with warm soapy water, Remove as much glass, sand if any as possible. 2)If you have no idea how wound occurred, get to a doctor-For some reason you lack sensitivity where you should have it. 3)Pat dry gently and cover-If you have vaseline(that is not 20 years old with hair),place a thin layer until you can get some triple anti biotic ointment -any drug store, over the counter and should be no more than $4 for tube. Pillow under the heel if you back sleep wouldn't hurt-keep knee from swelling-If wound fresh,a little ice pack on 15 mins off 15 will make you comfortable. Always, expect that a new wound will look worse before it heals, but use common sense. Remember back to the days of trikes,or skateboards-most of us tried to hide our skinned knees for fear ma would take away the skateboard

How long does a dislocated knee take to heal?

The healing time for a dislocated knee depends on the severity of the injury. Most knee dislocations result in the tearing or rupturing of a tendon. In this case, surgery is most likely necessary. This usually has the longer healing process. The time period is usually about a year ..with the surgery and physical rehabilitation. Full recovery of the knee (return to the previous, strong state) could even take longer. The dislocations that may not require surgery could take 6 months. Again, total recovery could mean more time.
