I have had the best results by starting with a quick sketch to compose the piece then starting in the upper left corner (I am right hand dominant in my art work) applying only a small amount of detail in the background and as I move diagonally across the surface I add much more detail to the main focus. This greatly reduces the amount of unwanted smudging of the finished piece.
The part of the subject or background on a vertical plane that is in focus
There should be a setting in the back or a switch on the outside of the lenes
An F Stop refers to a ratio used in a camera lens. It is concerned with the amount of light the lens lets in, how fast the camera can take a picture, and how much of the picture will be in focus. With pixels, it is possible to overcome some of the restrictions of film cameras. First, if you have a low f stop, like 1.2, and you have a lot of light, you can take a picture real fast. Only the object you focused the camera on will be in focus. If you use a high f stop, like 22, you will need to slow down your shutter speed. Your subject will be in focus and so will the background. The old point and click cameras had about a shutter speed of 1/125 of a second, a distance of 8 feet, and an f stop of about 8. The person would be in focus. The background would not.

because you try to focus on an object either in the foreground, middleground, or background. Same thing with a camera. So, if you focus on something in the foreground, the background will be blurry, and vise versa.
By 'fade', I presume you mean out of focus. What you are referring to is called 'depth of field'. This is by how much the picure is in focus from nearest the furthest point. To make the focus sharper and only focus at one distance, you need the aperature as wide a possible, the smallest number 'F' stop. So now when you focus on the foreground, the background will be out of focus.
When looking at a picture or painting there is a background that is the things that are not the main focus of the picture for example the sky or a building. The foreground would be the people in the picture or more simply the main focus of the picture.
