3.6 is good for general Photography. In small digital cameras, the zoom is most useful for framing shots without having to move nearer or farther away, or for getting more or less subject matter in the shot. For true telephotography, you would want a camera with 10x or more.

What is the size of a 35MM frame?

35MM cameras were the most popular type of camera before digital cameras came into popularity. The definition of a 35MM camera is one which uses film which measures 35MM.

What are the benefits of using a digital camera?

I assume you are asking what are the benefits of the digital camera versus the film camera and will answer that way. The digital picture from the camera is instantly available to transfer to a computer or a modem or even to transfer wirelessly. The picture can be instantly sent or viewed. The picture can be immediately edited, in some cases while still in the camera. The picture can be immediately deleted if it is not satisfactory. With multi gigibyte storage media, many hundreds or even thousands of pictures can be stored on media the size of a book of matches. The digital camera is usually programmed so that very many options are available, just to name a few; noise reduction, anti shake programs, red eye reduction, face recognition, and in some cameras, smile recognition, which waits for a person to smile before the picture is taken! Most digital cameras offer a choice of taking color or black and white pictures. Since the picture is visible on the liquid crystal screen, usually on the camera back, you can quickly learn what is good and bad about your photographic technique. Using flash often yields unpredictable results, but the results can be quickly viewed and the picture taken again if necessary. On the other hand, a 35 mm film camera is usually limited to 24 or 36 pictures on a roll of film, which must be chemically developed in a darkroom. The picture must then be printed or projected to be seen. To take a thousand pictures with color film using 28 rolls of film at 4 dollars per roll of 36 pictures, costs 112 dollars. The cost of developing and printing 28 rolls of film at about 10 dollars each is 280 dollars. To take 1000 pictures with the digital camera may cost 15 dollars in batteries, or less if rechargable batteries are used. It costs far less to take and print digital pictures after the initial outlay of the cost of the digital camera and printer is considered. Many people consider digital photography a new and exciting art. Many digital cameras have a special "night mode" feature that helps you to click clear pictures even in dim light.

What is the biggest print you can make from a 35mm SLR camera?

What is the difference between a digital and a film camera?

now Danielle is writing this :) digital cameras might seem better but are they?? They might be easier to use but they are actually harder because you have to focus them while the digital one is easier because they are easier to print and taking. This is why they are better than digital cameras. I think the above answer confuses film camera with digital camera! The opinion expressed above seems to favour film camera rather than a digital one. Possibly so, but before submission the author of that statement above should have revised what he wrote!

What company produces the Cli 36 camera?

Canon produces an ink cartridge for their photo printers called the CLI-36. There does not appear to be a camera made with this same name, but the CLI-36 ink cartridge would be able to print pictures taken from any type of camera.

How more pictures does a digital camera take than a old camera?

Well, my "old" Pentax K1000 will take a maximum of 36 images on a roll of 35mm film. A half-frame 35 mm (no longer manufactured) will do 72 to a roll. My Pentax K10D digital will put a maximum of about 600 on a 4 GB SD card at the highest resolution, and well over 4000 at lowest. As far as which makes the better images, that's a matter of the brain behind the camera, not the one inside.

Is a 50mm lens considered normal if using a 35mm camera?

Yes, when using a 35mm format film, the 50mm prime lens is considered a "normal" or "natural view" lens. This does not hold true when using a Digital SLR camera (DSLR) because the sensor for most cameras is not 35mm size (36 by 24mm). Entry level and enthusiast level DSLRs often have sensors that are about half size (18 mm wide) and therefore the 50mm lens is equivalent to a slight zoom. A 35mm or 28mm prime lens is closer to that natural view. Some of the more expensive DSLR cameras have a full size sensor and thus have the same magnification and characteristics of the 35mm film camera.
