Is Wal-Mart good for America

Answer Not only is Walmart good for America but it's good for any country that they decide to open up in. I'm Canadian, there are as many walmart stores in Canada as I can count. They have great savings, but like any other store, you have to watch their sales as they aren't in business to loose money. Their savings are great and the offer competition to existing stores to help keep prices down. On an employ level they stink.

One Perspective:No, Walmart is not good for America. As a retailer it controls its manufacturers causing them to lower their prices (might be good for consumer). Eventually the manufacturer has to move to China to keep up with Walmart's low cost demand. Walmart causes specialty stores to run out of business and close. America does not gain, only Walmart gains by tricking people into thinking that Walmart cares about their customers (people think Walmart has no profit.) Walmart makes more profit by selling for less but due to the high volume of sales makes a huge profit. Another Perspective:Walmart can be great for America.. profits go to Arkansas, local employment rates go up (unemployment goes down locally), the area benefits from property taxes, and state and federal taxes paid by the corporation and the employees, consumers get lower priced goods (some goods are top quality) and there are many products made in America (check the labels if you don't believe me) as well as all Great Value/Sam's choice/mainstays/Better Homes and Gardens/Canopy/rival products are made in America. Walmart isn't the only retailer (and yes specialty shops are guilty of it as well) that buy other countries products and sell them.. news flash, other countries produce products here as well as buy American made products to sell overseas. Walmart didn't invent this model, they just did it better.
